Mechatronics Engineer - Hybrids

Troy, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs    is working with a leading tier one automotive supplier.  Due to their growth, they have a newly opened position for a Mechatronics Engineer – Hybrids 

What you will do: The Mechatronics Engineer – Hybrids provides technical expertise on motors, controls, and power electronics for electric drivetrains in hybrid electric and battery electric medium and heavy commercial vehicles. The position completes trade studies evaluating various motor types and axle architectures, defines specifications for motors, actuators, sensors, and electronics, and writes statements-of-work for motors, controls, and power electronics suppliers and manage outsourced supplier activity. The role supports the development of mechatronic technology road-map and commercialization plans, uses analysis tools to iterate solutions that optimize system performance and component contributions, and supports strategy development for outsourcing versus in-sourcing of controls software. Additionally, the Mechatronics Engineer – Hybrids stays abreast of new technology and competitive products.

What you will need: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Experience in a mechatronics or electrical engineering role with experience leading and implementing complex mechatronic systems. Experience leading and implementing complex mechatronic systems. Understanding of hybrid and battery electric systems in commercial vehicles. Understanding of the engineering theory and principles of complex systems, including mechanical systems, geared systems, electromechanical devices, electric traction motors, and electrical control units preferred. Good understanding of the capability and application of various analytical tools including MIL/SIL/HIL methods preferred. Ability to travel up to 20%.
